Herbs for Diarrhea
by: Puristat

1.Get plenty of rest.
2.Drink lots of fluid: i.e. water, broths, and tea with honey.
3.Avoid caffeinated beverages, fruit juices, and soft drinks as they can worsen diarrhea symptoms.
4.Try peppermint tea; it may help to settle your stomach.
5.Incorporating foods from the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apple sauce, and toast) is recommended by some physicians for adults as well as children as these foods may help to reduce the severity of diarrhea.
6.Eat lightly: yoghurt, noodles, grape juice, smooth peanut butter, white bread, chicken or turkey without the skin, tender or ground beef, fish, cottage cheese, and cream cheese are also recommended as diarrhea-friendly foods.11
7.Avoid greasy, fatty, or fried foods; raw vegetables and fruits; strong spices, and whole-grain cereals and breads. 12
8.Avoid gas-forming foods and beverages such as beans, cabbage, beer, and carbonated beverages. 13
9.Try taking a probiotic supplement, especially after taking an antibiotic.
10.Mild cases of diarrhea can be treated with over-the-counter products such as Imodium A-D®, Kaopectate®, or Pepto-Bismol®.

Vicki, I forgot to mention, I have a whole page about Raspberry Leaf tea on my website with recipes and explains the medicinal properties. Just go to the button "Medicinal teas" and look for the link for Raspberry Tea.

I also have a page written about the coconut and another about the brown rice. Just go to the button that reads "Home Remedies" and look for "Home Remedy for Diarrhea" and "Home Remedy for Chronic Diarrhea".

Herbal & Home Remedy for Diarrhea
by: Grandma

Hi Vicki,

Raspberry leaf tea is excellent for relieving diarrhea and intestinial inflamination.

Here is something that your little one will love eating and I've always used for my children when they had a problem with diarrhea, coconut macaroons. You can buy them in your grocery store and they really do work. You can also try pure coconut milk for times they don't want to eat anything. Another rememdy I use is brown rice. Brown rice is really good for your digestive system and will gently relieve diarrhea without causing constipation. I just make a bowl with a little butter and salt and pepper to taste and let them eat. It's great for about any stomach bug that keep kids from eating.
