Prickly Pear Cactus ( Tuna de Petate)

by Susan
(Phoenixville, PA)

Dear Grandma,
I hope this message finds you well. My father was born and raised on the island of Puerto Rico by the Caribbean Sea. He is 75-years-old and suffers from lower back pain. He recalls, from his childhood, how the elders would place the arm of the Prickly Pear Cactus ( Tuna de Petate)directly onto their skin to sooth their pain. Can you help me discover whether the Prickly Pear Cactus ( Tuna de Petate) is produced into a salve for medicinal purposes?
Thank you!
Susan

Herbal Prickly Pear
by: Grandma

Hello Susan,

I don't know of a salve made from prickly pear but I do know of an herbal formula called Napal made from pickly pear cactus. But it's recommened for digestive and glandular health issues.

There is an herbal cream that I've used myself for pain and it's helped me. It's called Ever-Flex. There is also an herbal liquid that I've used called "Pain". You just put a few drops under your tongue for pain relief like sciatica.

If any of these herbal products interrest you just go to:
