urticaria pigmentosa
by: niki

my daughter was diagnosed with this at 3months old after a biopsy of one of her spots. alot of medications were avoided per dr. orders because they caused the spots to hive up. We went as far as Miami university to have the specialists look her over, because they were everywhere. Strangers would think she was abused because those spots were not isolated to one area they went from neck to feet. My daughter is now 18 and has maybe three spots to this day. She never suffered any from this. Some thing we did stick to was avoiding the sun exposure, no aspirin, no products with alcohol, no products with polmysin,
neosporin. Keeping the skin lesions cool will eleviate the hives and trying to avoid from rubbing are best solutions. Hope this is of some help, dont let the site of the spots cause you undo worry, they will fade away my daughter is proof.
Best wishes

Urticaria for 36 years straight
by: Anonymous

I had chronic urticaria for 36 years straight. It started at age 11. I had every allergy and blood test known to man. I probably went to 10 doctors over the years hoping somebody could figure this out. Daily medication controlled the daily out brakes for years. Every 5-7 years the medication would just quite working. I was lucky enough to find or have a new medication come out on the market when the others did not work any more.
I was very fit and ate very healthy. I ate mostly yogurt, fruit and chicken. When I turned 40 I started eating all of the foods that I rarely ate.
The hives came with a vengeance. No medication would work. My doctor said he didn't know what to do because I had been on everything and they all had quit working. I was determined to figure it out because everyday life with the hives was unbearable. After eliminating many things I went on a gluten free diet! That was it after 36 years. I had been tested many years ago for wheat allergy but the test was negative. The wheat was the main culprit but I never had the diarrhea associated with wheat allergies just the hives.
It has been a year, the hives are still there but there is a 95% improvement. Who knows I may be allergic to other things but the wheat was the main one. If I eat nothing I have no hives!

Relieving Symptoms of Urticaria Pigmentosa
by: Grandma

Hello,

I have to admit you sure threw a curve ball to me on this question. I have never heard of Urticiaria Pigmentosa. After doing a bit of research I found that it's really rare for a toddler to be suffering from such a disorder. This has to be so frustrating for you as a parent since it seems that nobody really knows much about this or how to help your toddler.

After giving it some thought I think I'd try giving your little one some lemon balm tea to help him/her to relax and hopefully relax those nerve endings. I'd also try giving a sage leaf bath to help the rash. You can find the recipes for these teas if you go to the button on the left "Medicinal Teas" and look for both recipes.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help, I sure got an education reading about this disorder.
