Medicinal Mullein Tea
by: Grandma

Hello Michael,

You're right, mullein is very medicinal for many things, like; bronchitis, intestinal inflammation & diarrhea, earaches, abdominal cramps and fluid retention.

You do have to be extremely careful when using mullein though. First, although you said it's growning wild in your mothers yard, you have to make sure nobody is spraying near or around that area with pesticides. You also need to be careful when preparing it that you always strain mullein with a coffee filter or or fine cloth because it has tiny hairs and fuzz that can really irritate your throat. That being said here is a recipe for tea.

Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoons of dried mullein flowers and leaves. Cover and steep for 10 to 15 minutes. You can drink the tea several times a day and sweeten the tea with some honey if desired.

Mullein
by: Michael

Hello Grandma,

I just stumbled upon your website today.
A few years ago My mother and I noticed some interesting looking plants growing in her yard. Anyway - it turns out it is Mullein and there have been several the past few years. Is it safe, okay or totally unsafe for some one who is not schooled much in herb preparation to try to prepare this? I have read that mullein can be used as a medicine more than one way. I don't want to keep letting it go to waste and all the prep instructions I've seen are very minimal.
Thank you

Michael
