Sore Throat

by Alice
(New Zealand)

This my favorite remedy for a sore throat:

In a small container put 1-2 spoonfuls of honey, add as much cayenne pepper as you can tolerate. Good idea to add just a smidgen (start with a tiny pinch), taste a little, and work up to your level of toleration - depends on if you are used to spicy food or not. You can make the mixture more fluid, if you prefer, by adding a small amount of olive oil.

Use a spoon to take a small amount. You can feel the cayenne getting to work on the bacteria in your throat,-and it is a painkiller as well!

When I have a sore throat, I keep some on my desk and swallow a small amount as I need it.

P.S. Alice asked me to edit this with worry that some may try to use too much cayenne, please start slow and just try a tiny pinch, if you see you can tolerate the heat, then add more. Grandma

Spicy Home Remedy for Sore Throat
by: Grandma

Wow Alice, now that's one spicy home remedy for sore throat. I have no doubt this is a great home remedy with all the health benefits of honey and also cayenne pepper, the mixture would be great for fighting off bacteria. I've never thought of trying it for sore throat, thank you so much for bringing it to my attention. Adding the olive oil would be extra beneficial, especially for children.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom,

Grandma
