Rum Soaked Raisins & Arthritis

Hi Grandma,

I am a grandma also and just recently found your web site and love it. I am in the process of trying the soaked raisins as I have arthritis. I am wondering though if the raisins need to be refrigerated or just left out. I obviously made more than 9 at one time. Thank you for taking the time to do this site and I look forward to hearing back from you,

Sincerely,

Alma Melan

Soaked Raisons
by: Grandma

I'm so sorry to confuse you. You're right the recipe does call for gin. The reason I got mixed up is because Grandpa loves Rum soaked raisons, he don't like the taste of gin. Even though he did eat the gin soaked raisons when we first started taking the remedy. One day we just ran out of gin and he decided to try the rum we had and just stuck to it since. It seems to have the same medicinal benefit. As far as my advice goes, I'd start out with the gin simply because that's the original recipe. If you find it helps stick to it, if you want to experiement a little that's completly up to you.

Sorry for the confusion,

Grandma

Arthritis & Raisons Soaked in Rum
by: Grandma

Hello Alma,

It's so nice to meet you. I just love meeting my sister grandmas. I'm so glad you found and enjoy visiting my website.

I just leave the rum soaked raisons in a sealed container on my kitchen counter. There is no need to refrigerate them. Like you, I always make a huge batch to let soak, I've found the longer they soak the more potent they get. Just one word of caution, watch out for grandpa, they seem to love the taste and end up snacking on them. :) Even though I started making grandpa his own container I'm forever chasing grandpa away from my rum raisons.
