Remedy for Rat Problem

My Aunt has rats running around her yard. They have a terrible problem in her neighborhood. They also have cat's that live wild around there, too. She doesn't want the cat's to eat poison, that she would put out for the rat's. Do you have any idea's to help her?

I will ask her if she can try this one. Marshmellows she said was not working. I will try that and see what happens. About the skink problem, I had a friend that had that same exact thing happen to her, I will have to ask her what they finally did about it and let you know. lol But I think that you took care of that perfectly.

Chasing Rats Out
by: Grandma

Wow, that's a real problem. You would think the rats would worry about the wild cats being around but once they move into a neighborhood they are tough to get rid of, mostly because they are really intelligent. I can understand not wanting to put poisoning around the neighborhood for different reasons, mostly the cats but also, who wants to see a bunch of dead rats laying around all over the neighborhood.

Last summer I had a problem with skunks, a huge family of skunks moved into my neighborhood and I discovered they were living under my back porch. I didn't want to poison them or trap them, there was no way I wanted to pick up a cage full of skunks and move them into the woods. So I got a few bottles of ammonia and soaked some rags with it and placed them under my back porch and around my yard. Within a few days the skunks moved out. I'm guessing this might work with your aunts property and the rats. It might help if she can get other neightbors to do the same thing. Make sure you tell her to soak and replace the rags everyday for a few days.
