Pine Cones for Allergies

by DHM

Hi Grandma:

I have severe allergies and do not wish to go the "drug route" again.

I hear that they use pine cone tea in the orient for many ailments, and immune balance is one of them, so I'm willing to try this.

Lately, the best thing I've tried is a new pine cone extract in a capsule but it's $30 for a 30 day supply.

I'd like to just go and pick the pine cones myself, but I don't want to take the dirty ones off the ground. Have you heard of this?

Is there a time of year when they are plentiful on the trees?

Thank you,
DHM

Pine Cone Tea
by: Grandma

Hello DHM,

To be honest with you, I really don't know anything about Pine Cone Tea. I've heard of Pine Needle Tea, it's made from White Pine Trees. Native Americans used white pine needles medicinally as a remedy for many illnesses. It's mostly used today for respiratory problems. It can be used in the bath for arthritis. I don't believe it can be bought commercially but can be gathered in the wild.

I have seen Pine Cone Tea for sale online but as far as making it from your own pine cones I really wouldn't feel comfortable recommending it. If you do learn more about it I'd love to hear about it. I have three large pine trees in my yard and tons of pine cones.
