Home Remedies for Oily Dandruff
by: Grandma

Hello,

I'm awfully sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner, I've been recovering from knee surgery and things have been tougher than expected.

There are a lot of home remedies you can try for oily dandruff. From what you wrote it looks like you've been trying a lot, some that you've tried I've never heard of.

First of all, dandruff is caused by scalp glands that do not function properly, this is what causes the drying and scaling of the skin. The itching is probably what is causing you to lose your hair. Exposure to sunlight might help and also try eating a serving of yogurt a day.

Another home remedy is the juice of a fresh lemon. Apply the juice of a half large lemon to your hair then wash your hair with a mild shampoo then rinse again with the juice of the other half of lemon and two cups of water, then rinse again. Try doing this every day for a week and see if it helps.

Many shampoos will dry the scalp because they are made from detergents. It's important to get a good shampoo with natural ingredients to moisturize your scalp.

If the above don't seem to help you can try mixing one cup of apple cider vinegar and one cup of water, add ten mint leaves and bring this mixture to a boil for five minutes. Allow to stand at room temperature for twelve hours. Strain and massage into the scalp twice each day for seven days. You don't need to rinse this out, the mixture will dissipate and not leave an odor.
