Natural Hair

Hi Grandma,

I have dealt with dryness everywhere (scalp, hair, and skin) and even some dandruff. I went natural two years ago and I've been doing fine until this summer when my scalp decided to get crazy itchy. Since i'm just eighteen and living in my mothers home and there's so many shampoos that i am unable to buy another one to fit my hair (my mom instructed me to just take what I have to college with me and just switch then) but i was able to get a bottle of extra virgin olive oil and purchased lotions with olive oil in it and even wondering if they have soap that truly lubricates a person. I see that you said something about heating olive oil up but how would i go about doing that without freaking myself and my mom out? Also, could stress, lack of sleep, and not much food be a cause of this dryness issue? (My senior year consisted of all of that and even my summer has been a little stressful and not very nutritious especially since i can't eat raw fruits and vegetables because of pesticides and insecticides)

Sincerely,

Tiara

Stress & Hair Dryness
by: Grandma

Hi Tiara,

Yes, stress can cause all kinds of symptoms with our skin, hair and all through our bodies.

As far as using olive oil to relieve the dryness and itch, just heat a small amount in your microwave for a few seconds then message into your scalp and let it soak in for awhile before shampooing. You might also want to try mixing 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar with 1/2 cup of warm water and rinsing it over your scalp after shampooing. This is really good for youR scalp itch and it's amazing how it conditions your hair.

PS Glad to know you are letting your hair go natural, putting chemicals on your hair can cause more problems than people want to believe.
