Honey Lemon Hot Toddy

How many times the hot toddy recipe has to be given to my 2yr old and the rum has to be added each time? How much times it will take to release the congestion?

Hot Toddy & Children
by: Grandma

Hello Meetu,

I wouldn't use the rum in the Hot Toddy recipe for a child as young as 2 years old unless the congestion is severe and the child can't stop coughing and get the much needed rest. Even then I would only use a few drops of the rum.

Make sure you bring the lemon and honey to a low boil then shut off heat and let cool. You can make a cup full at a time and just give a teaspoon whenever the child starts coughing too much and can't rest. The drops of rum can be added after the mixture cools to room temperature. If you make a full cup you could add about 1/2 teaspoon to the mixture. You can also add a teaspoon of the Hot Toddy recipe to a cup of tea, this will also help keep the child from getting dehydrated.

The recipe is recommended so the child can get the much needed rest so the body's natural immune system will cure the child's chest congestion.

Thank you for trusting in Grandma's Wisdom,

Grandma
