Home Remedy for Interstitial Cystitis?

by Marcia
(Delphi, Iniana)

I have interstitial cystitis. Through trial and error, I haven`t been able to figure out exactly what foods are irritating the bladder. Most of the burning sensation happens during the night. I usually get up three or four times a night to urinate. Any suggestions?

No Cranberry juice for IC!
by: Anonymous

There is NO way anyone with interstitial cystitis should EVER drink cranberry juice. IF you truly have IC cranberry juice will light you up like a Christmas tree! Avoid it, citrus, sodas or any carbonated beverages and opt for plain water or coconut water to drink.

You're Welcome
by: Grandma

You're very welcome Marcia,

I had to laugh when I read it's all your favorite foods, they are mine too. But once you start feeling better and start introducing them back into your diet you'll notice real fast which are what is causing you the grief. Once you start to heal you'll see you can eat or drink anything in moderation. The only thing I really eliminate is milk, I do eat cheese. Heaven's going without pizza was real torture for me...:)

Take care and I'll be thinking about you,

Grandma

Interstitial Cystitis and Home Remedies
by: Grandma

Hello Marcia,

I'm so sorry to hear about the discomfort you must be dealing with on a daily basis.

As far as diet there are several things that can be irritating your condition. You may want to eliminate things like coffee, carbonated beverages, black tea, citrus drinks and fruits, and believe it or not, chocolate. I would try to stay away from all of these things for awhile to see if it helps to ease your symptoms. If you notice a difference then try bringing back each thing one at a time. You may even want to try the food elimination diet that I recommend on my website, go to the button on the left "Allergy Wisdom". You could be dealing with a food allergy, like dairy. I have eliminated all dairy from my diet and it's made such a huge difference in my health.

Next, I would suggest you start drinking cranberry juice. It will put a coating on your bladder that will ease so much of your pain. It will also help to flush out any bacteria that may be breeding there. I'd drink a big 8 oz. glass at least 3 times and day, and another an hour before you go to bed. I once had a bladder infection, it was so bad I was passing blood. Since I started drinking cranberry juice everyday I never have problems with burning urination or infections. Once your symptoms ease you can cut the dosage down to a glass a day.

Something else you may want to try is Olive Leaf Tea. I'm in the process of writing some pages about Olive Leaf Tea Benefits and Olive Leaf Extract Benefits and I think you'll find it pretty amazing. Just make sure you drink lots of water when using Olive Leaf Extract, at least 4 glasses after every dosage. I'd try the tea first, I think you'll like it. You can put some honey in it, honey is also pretty amazing. It may help with any soreness in your bladder.

Thank you for trusting in Grandma's Wisdom, please stop back often and know you always have a friend that cares,

Grandma
