Home Remedy for Conjungivitis (pink eye)

Can you or anyone suggest what to do for VIRAL pink eye? I've tried everything I can think of,warm compresses cold ones diluted asperin, diluted apple cider vinegar, diluted hydrogxide( the latter 2 burned like heck for all of about 10 long seconds but did help) even a slice of raw potato.

All of the above mentioned have helped but only temporarily because the next morning it's back. Everything I've read says that because it's the viral type out of 3 kinds, that like a cold you have to let it run it's course. I don't have Medical insurance and cannot afford to take off work again or to spend the $50-80 office visit fee. I read a cure for an eye wash using corriander but I'm fresh out. And I'm not too sure about the cure using urine in my eye that sounds gross. PLEASE help!

Thank you Angie C

Pink Eye Remedy
by: Grandma

Hello Angie,

The first thing I want to say is PLEASE don't put urine in your eye! I've never heard of doing that and it sounds so yucky. I have heard that some people in the service has used urine to help with athletes foot but I really don't even agree with that.

I'd suggest you try warm salt water compresses. You'd be amazed at what salt water can do to cure so many ailments, like sore throat, mouth sores and skin disorders. My son had pink eye about two years ago and I had him use hot salt water compresses and even put a few drops of warm salt water in his eye. I can't say it worked overnight but it did relieve the misery and did work after a few days. Remember this is a virus you're dealing with and they can be really stubborn so be patient and mostly try to relieve the pain and discomfort, your body's immune system will do the rest.

PS I'd just use about 1/4 teaspoon in 4 ounces of warm water for the eye drops...1/2 teaspoon for the compresses. Make sure the salt don't have iodine in it.
