Grandmom Rejection on Dads Side of the Family.......

I have a little grandson he is my third grandson on his moms side of the family the grandma is white ,on the dads side of the family grandma is african american, he the babie, always goes to the white grandma and gives loves and hugs he does not come to me unless my son makes him and then he really does not stay long if it is a choice between his white grandma and his black one he will always go to the white one he is her first grandchild, my third. He is very advanced for 18 months..I know he can't have any racial problems ...I just can't figure what it is my other grandchildren love me and would live with me if they had their choice..this one i cant figure out ...?

Hi Denise,

There is no doubt, kids can drive you up a wall trying to figure them out. I have no doubt this isn't a racial problem. But, you never know what goes on behind the scenes when you are not around. I'm sure the other grandma fusses over him a lot. I'd try getting all three together, when she isn't around and make a huge fuss over the other two. I wouldn't ignore the little guy, but I'd let him see how much the other two love you and how much you fuss over them and just give him a little attention. Kids have a way of picking up on vibes. I'm sure as he gets older he'll start coming around and want to spend time with you. Just don't let it get you down.
