Fire Ants and Boric Acid

I'd first like to say how glad I am that I found your site! I just came upon it today and haven't had time to view everything yet. I have added it to "Favorite".

My question is, I had an awful fire ant mound in my back yard long before finding this wonderful site. Out of desperation, I sprinkled it with boric acid. Amazingly, it killed the ants ...and the grass. lol What did I do wrong? Also, what do you recommend for dandelion weeds and it's roots? They have taken over my yard especially the front.

Thank you.

Ants & Weeds Remedy

Hello Sylvia,

I'm so sorry it took me so long to get back to you, my internet service was down for two days. I'm so glad you found my website and I hope you will visit us often.

Boric Acid will kill just about anything, and I'm sure that's what happened to your grass. Be really careful where you put it because it will also kill animals if they get into it.

As far as your dandelion problem, I wish I had that problem...lol..dandelion root tea is so good for you. But if you consider it a weed then you can mix 1/2 gal. of Apple Cider Vinegar, 1/4 cup of sea salt and 1/2 tsp. of Dawn in a container that you can mist or spray. Just spray over all your weeds to safely get rid of them and it won't be toxic to animals or your environment.
