Cough due to Nasal Polyp Draining Down Throat

Sounds stupid I know, but I had a nasal polyp removed 4 years ago and it has returned. The problem is I don't want surgery again and want to know how I can get rid naturally. At the moment I have a cough which is worse in a morning and I know it's my nose that drains onto my chest during the night. When I sniff up I can taste this awful snotty taste going down my throat and onto my chest, which then I cough up. Sometimes its green like snot which I've just swallowed.

Please tell me of a product I can buy over the counter and that I can get in Spain as that is where i live.

I have a big phobia about going to see doctors, please help.

Desperate for help, the suffering too much
by: Anonymous

I am reading alot about sinusitis but little about how to get rid of nasal polyps. Most websites report having multiple surgeries but the polyps keep coming back, or using Prednisone and antibiotics. It is incomprehensive that the medical establishment can perform all kinds of heart/liver/kidney transplants, but getting rid of nasal polyps appears to be totally hopeless. I just wish someone out there who did find some help in some home remedies could share it. Now remember NOT sinusitis, NASAL POLYPS that can make your life hell on earth and make you lose your will to live. It affects my breathing, it affects my sense of smell, even my hearing, my speech, and when I pick up the phone and someone says, "oh boy, it sounds u have a terrible cold" I just want to scream. Please help!!!

Sounds Like an Infection
by: Grandma

Hello,

If you are having this kind of drainage with a green discharge I'd say you have an infection.

The first thing I would suggest for your condition is my home remedy for sinus infection, and that's a neti pot with sea salt water. You can find all the information about using a neti pot, if you click on the button on the left marked "Home Remedies", then go to the middle of the page and click on "Home Remedy for Sinus Infection."

I'm not sure if you can find a neti pot in Spain but I know you can buy one online.

My second suggestion is to use a nasal spray with saline solution. This is a salt water mist spray that will help a sinus infection. If you can't find these things in Spain at least buy some sea salt and mix half a teaspoon in 6 ounces of warm water and buy a nose dropper and put a few drops in each nostril a couple times a day and before going to bed, then blow your nose after every application to get rid of the discharge.

My third suggestion is to buy some sea salt and dissolve a half a teaspoon in 4 ounces of warm water, gargle with it every morning and every night. This will get any discharge that is in your throat and help you from allowing the infection to settle in your throat. (Don't use regular table salt, you need sea salt).

I wouldn't fool around with this condition too long. When you see a green discharge that is without a doubt an infection, as much as you hate the thought of seeing a Dr. you may have no choice, you might need antibiotics.

Give the sea salt remedies I suggested above a try for a few days, if it don't seem to help then the infection is too advanced and you'll need medical advice.

Good Luck,

Grandma
