Can't Eat!

Hi Grandma, Beccie here. I have some issues that I need your help with, and maybe while you are helping me, you will be helping many others. People are always talking about how to lose weight, but, they never talk about the people who can't gain weight. But, right now that's not the issue. Grandma, I can't eat anymore. This has been going on for a couple of years actually, but it is at it's worst right now. My diet is vanilla ice cream, yogurt, and pineapple juice. Please don't suggest I go to a doctor. I have 3 right now dealing with this and noone seems to have an answer. Nothing sounds good, nothing tastes good, nothing will go down, and I can't chew. When I eat an apple or piece of lettuce, it feels like my teeth are hitting each other and is not pleasant. When I eat meat, I can't chew it and when I try to swallow, it won't go down. Plus my gas stinks when I try to eat it. Because I am a person with Fibromyalgia, all the nerves in my body are overactive. I am all out of answers and full of ???'s. I have begun to slowly take myself off some of my meds with my GP's help of course. I have gone from 14 to 12. That has been in the last 2 months. So I am working that end. All I can eat are my pills. I don't know what to do, do you? Please help if you can. Love Beccie

Can't eat
by: Beccie

Hi Grandma, Thank you for writing back. I came to a lite bulb moment in the last couple of days. I have realized this inability to eat and the diets that I get myself into just by virtue of what will go down, has been going on since birth. My mom told me that I could not eat as a baby. Nothing would stay down. So there we begin. As a youth, my mom was working, so there was nothing to eat, so I ate candy and ice cream and pop corn. As I got older, it was Miller lite. That was hgh school. No one there to cook and I was too busy partying so I just drank. Then, as an adult, I went to beans and rice for years. This went down and tasted good. I always thought I had a lactose problem so I wouldn't touch milk products. Now it seems that everything that I do or can eat is milk based. I have another comment on your site about my ears. I am wondering if these two are connected. I'm sorry to ramble, but, my body is a mess. The funny thing is I feel better than I have for years. I am off the couch and able to MOVE. My muscles are strong, my veins are poppin. I hope I am making sense and you understand what I am trying to say. If it weren't for the fact that my body is a mess and I can't eat, all things considered I would be shouting Hallelujah, I am able to move. Fibro is definitely a strange disease. Thank you Grandma for your time, you always know the best way to address these issues. Beccie

Medications and Side Effects
by: Grandma

Hi Beccie,

To be honest, the last time you sent me the photos of your little hat party I was concerned about you and your weight.

The first thing, and this is important, that I want you to do is not contact another doctor but I do want you to contact your pharmacist and take all you medication and get a print-out and also their advice about the side effects of each medication and what mixes with what. Explain what you are going through and get some advice from an expert about the medications. It might even be as simple as never eating dairy products when taking one of your medications.

The next thing I think would really help you is if you start taking magnisium phosphate #8. It's a natural mineral that your body needs and truma, medication, illness or just aging can deplete a body of magnisium and it's so important to get it replenished. It's good for pain, muscle cramps, digestion, heart palpatations, and just good for way too many things to list here. I actually plan on writing a page about it. I'm sure you can find it locally, and the price is very reasonable. I think you can get 500 for around $10.00. Just pop 4 under your tongue a couple of times a day and you'll notice a huge difference in your digestion and many other side effects you're dealing with.

I'd also like to see you get away from the dairy. All that ice cream and yogurt isn't helping your health. Instead I'm sure you can start eating a banana I(even if you have to mash it) and drinking some herble teas with lots of honey in it. Start eating a few tablespoons of cream of wheat and any other soft cereal you can tolorate. Just start out slow and allow each bite to get down. But you have to start eating real foods again. Buy some V-8 and get some vegetables into you. If you can't swollow meat that's ok just start making some hot soup and eat what you can. Even cream of chicken soup, mushroom soup or tomato would be good. It's mind over matter Beccie and you have to just get a spoonful at a time down and your stomach will tell you it wants more. Ginger tea would be really good for you right now. Even 7-up would help you.

If you can't find the magnesium locally let me know and I'll email you the link where I buy it online. I'm telling you, this will really help you, it's helped my best friend who was suffering for years with gas and digestion problems. The Dr.'s couldn't figure out what was wrong with her and gave her all kinds of medications that made her really sick with side effects. I gave her a bottle of magnesium and she's gaining weight and can eat anything now.

You can even look your meds up online. Just type into Google, side effects of (whatever meds you're taking). You'll be amazed at what you can find online these days. Put your detective hat on and get to work, it's a matter of life and death Beccie!

Love ya,

Grandma
