HiGrandma,
My 14 year old special needs daughter who wears diapers had pneumonia and was in hospital for 5 days , she was treated with heavy meds. A week later she broke out with a rash i cant seem to get rid off. she has never had a rash in her life, i change her every 2 hours. Rash is around her vagina, it is red & has little bumps.I have used CVS triple antibiotic ointment, olive oil, rash creams.
Just started 2 days ago using tea tree oil, she is tolerating it so far. Don't know what else to do.Please help!
Thank you!

Home Remedy for Soothing a Rash
by: Grandma

Hello Dani,

I just can't imagine how awful the last few weeks have been for you. It's hard enough to take care of a child with special needs let alone dealing with her coming down with pneumonia. God Bless You for taking such good care of her and your concern.

Since you've never dealt with a rash like this before I'd suspect it's either coming from the meds she was on or the wipes they were using on her in the hospital when they changed her diaper. They tell you the wipes are gentle but they have a lot of chemicals she may have had a reaction to. Or, the meds my be coming out of her system through her urine.

I'd try using nothing but warm water to clean her vagina for awhile and try using nothing but Petroleum Jelly to sooth the area. This will not only sooth the rash but also keep the urine off the rash while healing the area. It's amazing how healing just plain Petroleum Jelly can be. I used it on my babies when they had skin problems when wearing diapers and also used it on my dad when he was bedridden and dealing with soreness in his private areas. It always soothed and healed.

I sincerely hope this helps and it works, it might take awhile but I have faith it will help.
